OEM & ODM Pet Product Manufacturing
Private label · Custom tooling · Packaging · Certification
ZXY runs private-label and custom development programmes for pet brands, retailers and distributors. That covers your logo on an existing mould, a colour and packaging change, or a product that does not exist yet and needs a tool. The entry point for most buyers is 300 pieces on an existing mould, and 1,000 to 3,000 for a new one. We quote cost, tooling and schedule together, because a tooling price without a schedule is only half an answer.
The three levels of private label
Almost every conversation about private label is really a conversation about how much of the product you want to own. The three levels below cover the range, from a label on a carton to a product that only your brand sells.
| Level | What changes | MOQ | Added lead time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Label only | Your brand on the carton, manual and product label; stock product | 300 pcs per SKU | 5–10 days |
| Colour and packaging | Custom colour on an existing mould, printed carton, insert, barcode | 500–1,000 pcs | 15–25 days first run |
| Product change | Different material, size, connector, or a new mould | 1,000–3,000 pcs | 45–90 days |

Tooling, ownership and what happens when you leave
Tooling is the part of a private-label programme that causes the most argument later. Our position is simple: if you pay for the tool, you own it, and the contract says so, with the mould identified by number and a stated buy-out price of zero after the tooling is paid.
If the relationship ends, the tool is shipped to you or to a new factory at your cost, or we buy it back at a price agreed before the project started. What we will not do is hold a tool hostage over a disputed invoice. That clause is worth more than a two percent discount.
How a programme runs
- 1
Brief
Product, target price, volume estimate and destination market. A photo, a sample or a link is enough to start.
- 2
Feasibility and quote
Three to five working days: cost at three volume bands, tooling, certification status, schedule.
- 3
Sample
A pre-production sample, photographed from four angles, before the print plates or the mould is cut.
- 4
Approval and production
Artwork sign-off, then production with an inspection gate at 30 percent and before loading.
- 5
Certification and shipping
Tests transferred or repeated in your name, then consolidation with your other categories.
What we decline
We do not print another brand on a product or a box. Private label exists so a distributor can sell its own brand, not so a counterfeit can be passed off, and a request for the second ends the conversation.
We also will not label an aftermarket product as original equipment, or a used item as new. The grade is stated on the invoice and on the carton. Getting that wrong at customs is a seizure; getting it wrong at a retailer is a recall.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order for private-label pet products? +
300 pieces per SKU for your logo on existing packaging, 500 to 1,000 for a custom colour and printed carton, and 1,000 to 3,000 for a product change or a new mould.
Do I own the mould if I pay for it? +
Yes. The contract identifies the tool by number, states that you own it once paid, and sets a zero buy-out afterwards. If the relationship ends, it ships to you or your new factory at your cost.
Can my brand go on the certification? +
Where the module and the design are unchanged, the existing CE or FCC report can be re-issued in your brand name, which takes one to two weeks. A change to the radio module or the housing means a new test.
How long does the first private-label run take? +
About 25 to 35 days from artwork approval for hard goods on an existing mould, plus 10 to 15 days if the app needs your branding. A new mould adds 45 to 60 days.
Do you supply product data for my webshop? +
Yes: a spreadsheet with description, dimensions, weight, carton quantity, barcode, HS code and photographs for every SKU, in the same format we use internally.
